Spring cleaning - what we do best, our "signature dish".

In this article

Everyone has a signature dish. You know, the dish you can do in your sleep and that gets all the praise - every time! At Humdakin, our kitchen skills don't necessarily get top marks, but cleaning? We certainly know how to do that.

Keep it simple

One of the things we do at Humdakin is to spread the message that cleaning can be simple. Keeping your home clean and tidy doesn't mean you have to spend hours on the weekend vacuuming, mopping floors and dusting.

That's why we're practically preaching about keeping clean. By keeping clean, you can spread the cleaning tasks out over all days of the week, so it doesn't become an overwhelming task when you get to the weekend. Maybe on Sunday you can make do with a trip with the vacuum cleaner and freshly washed sheets.

Set aside just 10 minutes every evening for a quick tidy-up in the living room and take advantage of the little breaks you have during the week and turn it into small habits. For example, wipe down kitchen surfaces while your coffee is brewing or use the time while the lasagna is in the oven to fold laundry. A little goes a long way!

Our "signature cleaning"

Even though we're good at keeping things clean, sometimes it's okay to cheat a little. Our best cleaning is the "10 minutes before guests arrive" cleaning. Those days when guests arrive at short notice and you don't necessarily spend hours cleaning the house, but 10 minutes at the pace of a 100-meter run with the most necessary products.

You'll need: universal cleaner, spray bottle, toilet cleaner, anti-calc spray, a dishcloth and tea towel, a scented stick and room spray.

Start by going to the bathroom and wet the toilet bowl, bath, sink and fixtures. Spray anti-calc spray on the wet surfaces and put toilet cleaner in the toilet bowl. Now wipe all other surfaces with your spray bottle (water mixed with universal cleaner) and the wet cloth. Dry with a tea towel.

Find a clean cloth and continue in the living room and other surfaces you can make within the time. Return to the toilet and scrub the surfaces you've applied the anti-calc spray and toilet cleaner to and rinse with clean water. Dry with a clean, dry tea towel.

Get out your room spray and give a few sprays around the home and place a scented stick in the hallway so that the clean scent hits your guests as soon as they walk in the door.

This is a great way to do a quick clean and cheat your way to a clean feeling (and if you've remembered to clean during the week, then no problem!)
