For most people, the weekend means time for all the things you can't get done during the week, often spending hours tidying up, cleaning, doing laundry, and changing the family's bedding. At Humdakin, we'd like to advocate that you shouldn't spend your weekend cleaning and tidying up, so: never spend the weekend cleaning. Here's how!
We keep saying it: keep clean rather than clean. It's really about remembering that phrase, because it's what makes all the difference! You might have heard it now for the first... or the hundredth time. But in our eyes, it doesn't become any less important.
Here's how you do it:
Keeping clean means ensuring that your home always feels clean and nice. However, it doesn't mean you have to constantly run a vacuum cleaner or dust, but rather spreading out the week's cleaning tasks over the days of the week and taking advantage of small pockets of time in your daily life, such as when you're waiting for your coffee to brew or your lasagna to finish cooking. And otherwise these steps may be helpful:
- Make sure to do the dishes immediately after eating, or while the food is still cooking. Clean pots and pans before the dirt has a chance to stick. Then it's one less thing waiting for you.
- Spend 5 minutes tidying up the living room before going to bed. It's just nice to wake up to a home that's ready for the day.
- Use waiting times: do you have 10 minutes left of drying time in the dryer, are you brewing a pot of coffee, or does the lasagna still have 20 minutes in the oven? Then it's time to get out the vacuum cleaner, prepare your cloth and spray bottle, or fold clothes.
- Cheat! With lovely scents in the home, the home will also feel clean and inviting. Use scent sticks, light a lovely scented candle, and use a room spray to freshen up the rooms – especially before guests arrive. You can also use a fabric spray to freshen up curtains, blankets, and rugs, making them seem fresh
If you keep these 4 points in mind all the time, we promise you'll never have to spend your weekend cleaning. Maybe you can get away with just 30 minutes of vacuuming, fresh bedding, and daily tidying up.
Now, enjoy your weekend with a newspaper, coziness, and good company.
